'The Little Mermaid'
Don't get me wrong — I love The Little Mermaid, and I have since I was a kid, belting out Under the Sea with the best of 'em. However, there's really something to be said for how sad, twisted, and problematic this Disney film really is. Ariel gives up her voice, fishtail, her family, and her home for a prince she's never even had a real conversation with. What's he ever done for her?

Not to mention the fact that in the original Hans Christian Andersen story, each step causes the mermaid excruciating pain, and her prince ends up running away with another woman in the end. See what we mean about sad, twisted, and problematic?
