10. Under Pack Rather Than Over Pack
If you're going for a quick trip in the US, then not checking in a suitcase and only taking a carry-on can save you at least $35, if not more. And if you are taking a suitcase, making sure that box is as light as possible is going to save you some major cash. Why? Because you won't mind lugging it around. 

Think about it, if your suitcase weighs 20 pounds instead of 50, you won't mind taking the stairs down to the subway instead of taking a taxi. You won't be bothered walking five blocks to your hostel rather than grabbing an Uber, and you won't feel self-conscious climbing onto a bus with only one bag instead of two massive suitcases. It makes a difference.
