14. If Abroad, Double Check With Locals About Price Tags
Sometimes when you're a tourist, vendors try to swindle you for more cash. From Asia to Europe, prices get jacked up when they see you're not from around those parts. So ask the locals what prices should look like!

You can ask your hostel or hotel workers easily for that information - from how much a taxi cab from A to B should cost, to how much a good bowl of Pho should run for. Other good things to double check for is how much a typical tour package runs for, how much an overnight bus to XYZ costs, and what kind of inflated prices you should look out for at night markets. That way you know you're not paying triple the price.
