14 Things You Should Never Say to a Cancer
Cancerians are loyal and kind, but you'll probably find that they're a bit shy and like to hide in their shells as well. With that said, you should know that while they might be reserved at times, you should never take advantage of them. Sure they're patient to a point, but you don't want to see what happens when they lose their cool. So just to err on the side of caution; here are some things you should never say to a Cancer.
You Need to Learn How to Grow a Thick Skin
So we're known for being a little sensitive and we have a strong fear of rejection, but who doesn't? We might take longer to grow our emotional armor, but when we do we can withstand anything. Don't underestimate the strength of a Cancer!
Why Are You Being So Shy?
Though it's true that many Cancerians are shy, there are others who just like to observe their surroundings. Just because we're not chiming in at every moment with our thoughts doesn't mean we're being timid. Often times we simply like to feel things out before we allow strangers to get close to us.
Do You Have Anything You'd Like to Contribute to the Conversation?
Putting us on the spot because you've noticed we were being quiet doesn't make us want to add anything. In fact, it just makes us even more nervous than before. If we have anything to say then we'll be sure to say it. Cancerians don't need people to baby them.
You Can't Be a Homebody Forever
We're close to our family and that's just the way it is. Take it or leave it! Plus, it's not like a Cancer who's a homebody is a failure to launch. In fact, many of us spread our wings and go on adventures across the world, take full-time jobs far away from home, and the like. It just means that we'll always be back to see our loved ones when we have the chance to... nothing wrong with that!
I Just Don't Want to Owe You Anything
Cancerians hate this. We're generous people because we like to be and not because we want to keep tabs on everyone. If it's cash-only at dinner and they have to pick up the bill, a Cancer probably won't care. What can we say? We're just nice people.
You Need to Get Out More
We just like our routine OK?! Let us sit inside the whole weekend watching movies without being judged please.
Can I Borrow That Dress Please?
No, you cannot. We might be generous, but we're protective over our personal belongings like clothes, food, loved ones and so on. It's not that we're being selfish, we just know that you won't take care of whatever it is as well as we do. And honestly, we don't trust everyone to return those belongings to us either.
All You Do Is Complain About Everything
If you're friends with a Cancer, you're probably aware that they tend to nag every now and then. OK, OK so we nag a lot, but we're not just complaining for the hell of it. We're just telling it how it is.
Suck It Up!
How about you just leave us alone? We might be more in touch with our feelings, and yeah maybe it doesn't take much for us to cry, but you need to get off our backs.
You Like to Hold a Grudge
This is true, but we don't hold a grudge with just any ol' person. Cancerians are pretty tolerant people so you have to have done something truly irksome for one of them to stay mad at you for so long.
Cancer Is An Awful Name for a Zodiac Sign
Ughhh yes we get it! But there's a reason behind the name of our Zodiac sign: Cancer is Latin for crab, which is why we are represented as the underwater crustacean.
Ugh, Can You Stop Hounding Me?
Cancerians are quite persistent, so you can't tell us to wait for something for too long. We're all about immediacy and get anxious if we don't get what we want as soon as possible. I mean it's not our fault that everyone else is so slow about things.
I Need Some Space
Are you trying to say we're clingy? Maybe if you'd just put a little more effort into the relationship...
You Need to Learn How to Open Up a Little
If you give us some time, we'll become an open book. Once we get to know you, we'll share everything about ourselves. Forgive us for not feeling the need to tell you our secrets after only knowing you for a couple weeks. If someone wants to gain a Cancer's trust, they have to work for it.
