When three of the top beauty trend-setters (looking at you Dianna Agron and your, RIP, former red hair) all wear the exact same colored mascara in the span of a few weeks, we take note—and rush to get every single deet on how to wear it, where to find, and, of course, report back to you stat.
Enter Hollywood's (and our!) new eye makeup obsession—burgundy mascara—recently embraced by the likes of Agron, Jessica Chastain, and Beth Behrs. We break down their looks, along with steps on how to re-create their technicolor treatments, below.
Plum-based hues, like the Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils Mascara "Burgundy" shade ($30 at department stores) Agron has on here—it doesn't even look purple-y, no?—bring out depth and dimension, especially, in lighter-colored eyes.
Pair the bold color with rust-toned smoky shadow (get the scoop on Agron's exact eye shadow colors, here) for an unexpected, yet totally sultry look.
At the Monsters University premiere this week, mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Jamie Greenberg used the exact same YSL mascara (are you sold yet?) to illuminate Behr's baby blues.
But to tone down the pigment just a smidge, she layered the colored formula over a basic black voluminizing mascara. (mark's Lash All You Want High-Volume Mascara, $11, to be exact.) It's a great trick to try if you're a little hesitant about going all the way with vibrant fringe.
Now, if you really want to blast your lashes with a hit of color, observe. Chastain swept a beautiful burnished plum shade along her lids and lower lashline to up the intensity.
For a similar effect, pair Benefit's Bad Girl Plum Mascara ($19 at Sephora.com) with Dior's 5-Colour Designer All-In-One Artistry Palette in "Nude Pink Design" ($60 at Sephora.com). Blend the shimmery mauve shade into the crease and the deepest matte burgundy shade along the lashlines and outer corners for a smoldering finish.
So what do you think, burgundy lashes, would you ever give them a try? Sound off in our poll, below!
