Golden Eye: Our Favorite Gilded Lids At NYFW Fall 2014

We already spotted gold manicures on the runways at NYFW Fall 2014, but that's not the only gilded trend we noticed backstage. Makeup artists went crazy for the metallic look this season with bold gold lids. From retro liquid liner to chunky glitter, golden lids were a must at NYFW. Take a look at six of our favorite gilded looks for your own inspiration.

Badgley Mischka: A golden cat eye.
(Source: ImaxTree)MAC makeup artist Tom Pecheux created a cool retro look inpsired by the golden years of America in the '50s and '60s. To achieve this look, he used Goldmine Eye Shadow mixed with black MAC Pro Eyeliner across the upper lash line.

Tracy Reese: Bold shimmer to the brow.
(Source: ImaxTree)Makeup artist Mally Roncal created five different looks for the Tracy Reese show. This gilded one was for the "agressive" character. Roncal applied her own golden shimmer color across the entire lid, extending up to the brow line (and even a bit onto the brow).

Altuzarra: Gold with a touch of rose.(Source: ImaxTree)MAC makeup artist Tom Pecheux again created a golden lid with a glittery eye featuring rosy accents. He applied Pros Gloss Texture to the lid for a glossy base. Then he added the sparkle with Pro 3D Brass Gold Glitter (Fall 2014) along the lashline and extending upward with a brush. To give the look a soft, rosy feel, he applied a swipe of Good Kisser Lipstick (Fall 2014) in the shape of a downward banana across the lid.

Lela Rose: More glitter, please.
(Source: Lela Rose/Instagram)For the modern, romantic look at Lela Rose, Romy Soleimani created a simply sparkling eye with large glitter chunks extending far beyond the lid. Soleimani used Boots Botanics No. 7 Intense Eye Cream as a base to hold all the gold (and silver) glitter onto the eye.

Desigual: Bathed in gold.
(Source: Caitlin Miller/StyleBistro)Gorodon Espinet for MAC said he wanted the models at Desigual to look like "girls using an indeliberate technique to apply gold shadow." Get the exact look by mixing Pro Gold Metal Pigment with Pro Gloss Texture to create a liquid gold mixture that you can apply over the lid in painter-stroke fashion, much like Espinet did on the runway. Add Pro Gold Glitter through the center of the lid for an added pop.

Peter Som: Rich '70s gold with a touch of smoke.
(Source: ImaxTree)Tom Pecheux for MAC created a look reminiscent of an "English girl with a modern South of France twist" for Peter Som's show. To do so, he used Au Nautre Cream Colour Base (Fall 2014) over the eyelid, followed by Stony Eyeshadow (Fall 2014) swept along the crease to create the contour effect. Finally, he used Water Willow Fluid Line Pencil (Fall 2014) through the upper lashes to lift the eye and add intensity.
