For the record, it has to be a pretty special occasion for us to leave the house wearing shimmery eyeshadow. When we think of it, all that crosses our mind is SPARKLE! and GLITZ! and SHINE! Sometimes we forget that if it's applied with an ever-so-gentle hand, it can be worn on an everyday basis.

Take a look at blonde beauties Kate Hudson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for instance. While they both wore metallic eye makeup to the 2013 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend, you'd never know they were at a fancy black-tie event based on their beauty looks alone. The super-soft washes of color—molded into a smoky pewter cat eye on Kate, and champagne enveloping the entire eye on Rosie—would totally work during the day (at the office or in class) as well.

The lesson to be learned here? Don't save your glittery shadows for after-hours only; just a light dusting on the lids during the day will go a long way.
