Moschino's New Fragrance is a Tribute to Olive Oyl

If you grew up watching Popeye and find yourself waxing nostalgic for the good ole days, where bad guys were named Brutus and spinach was the secret to really big biceps, then you might appreciate Moschino's newest fragrance, "Chic Petals," which launches in Italy later this season (and in the US mid-2014).

Does that bottle look familiar to you? Yes! It's inspired by Popeye's lady love, Olive Oyl.

"It's a significant, important launch that represents the continuity of Olive," Euroitalia founder and president Giovanni Sgariboldi told WWD, since the scent is targeted at "those consumers who are already familiar with Cheap and Chic's Olive fragrances—Olive has always been very successful both in fashion and in the perfume world, and this follows the interest of those who love this series."

Chic Petals features top notes of pomegranate, strawberry, and ginger, mid-notes of gardenia, water-lily, and red orchid, and basenotes of Hinoki wood, musk, and Italian iris.
