Stop everything right this second and stare into a mirror. How you look? More importantly, how do you feel—Haggard? Stressed? A little something like this guy, above? If so, you're not alone.
According to a new study conducted by tanning brand St. Tropez, women look and feel their worst at 3:30 on the dot on Wednesday afternoons. Oddly specific, right? Apparently, it's due to a combination of high stress levels—1 in 10 women reported Wednesday is their most draining day of the week—mid-afternoon slumps, sugary snacks, and boozing on the weekends.
“Processing the toxins in alcohol and sugar can put strain on the body," researcher and skin expert Nichola Joss said. "It can take up to 72 hours for the visible effects of alcohol to show." In other words, the effects from that cocktail binge on Saturday may not outwardly manifest until Wednesday. (Thankfully, this is not the case for hangovers.)
Intrigued, we conducted a (sort of) formal study on our own by tracking all of Kim Kardashian's Wednesday Instagrams from the past six months—see a sampling, below. She is, after all, the celebrity who best documents every single moment of her life on social media.
Of the 497 snaps Kardashian's shared since August 2012, she's posted a total of 61 pictures on Wednesday. Exactly half of those were selfies. And of those, only 20 (or 65 percent) are clear face shots.
Take a look at the evidence we've gathered, here, and feel free to make assumptions on whether or not the study rings true.
