26. 'White Teeth' By Zadie Smith
Smith's debut novel White Teeth is a near-perfect book about a motley crew of people sort of stuck together through the friendship of Archie Jones and Samad Iqbal. With modern London as a backdrop the story confronts race, age, tradition, religion, and family. It's uniquely funny and, honestly, there's nothing quite like it.
