THESE Are the Shoes that Caused Melissa McCarthy to Take a Tumble on 'Saturday Night Live'

Melissa McCarthy hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend, and, in the opening monologue she played...herself! Herself in ridiculously high heels.

Observe as she clutches the SNL stage railing for dear life, and nearly takes a chair down during her inevitable fall. "This smells like a lot of musicians," she says of the floor.

McCarthy's rhinestone-studded nemeses are Brian Atwood's Alesha platforms — they have a (nearly) seven-inch heel! Here they are in painted cork at Saks, where they retail for $795. Doesn't just thinking about wearing them make your quads tense up?

Fun fact: the actress has been friends with Atwood since high school. “They called for shoes on Friday, and there I was seeing the hilarious skit the next day,” the designer told WWD. “I was laughing so loud that friends watching at home said they could hear me.” He added, "Walking in heels is an art and we all poke fun at that. Melissa took it to another level, and that's what makes her a genius."
