George Kotsiopoulos knows a thing or two about what it takes to look great. He does afterall entertain us every week on E!'s Fashion Police with his favorite (and least favorite) red carpet picks, worked at The New York Times Magazine and has styled some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

So when we had the chance to sit down with the fashion guru this week in L.A., we had to get the scoop on his summer fashion must-haves.

Here's what he shared:

StyleBistro: What are your favorite summer trends?

George Kotsiopoulos: Black and white everything, crop tops, patchwork prints and combining graphic and floral elements.

Clockwise from top left: Erdem "Pippa" floral shorts, $298 at The Outnet, Proenza Schouler "Lunch Bag" patchwork clutch, $825 at LuisaViaRoma, Leather combo crop top, $398 at Tibi, "Ress 2" sandals, $124 at Topshop

StyleBistro: And what five pieces should every woman have in her closet this summer?

George Kotsiopoulos: A black and white bag, flat sandals (to down the sexiest looks), chokers, ethereal dresses (knee length or maxi) that can be worn shopping, as a beach cover-up or accessorized for a night out and a straw fedora.
Clockwise from left: Acne Studios "Satya" tape layered dress, $210 at MyTheresa, Miss Wax choker, $31.50 at Metropark, Michael Michael Kors "Selma" satchel, $443 at My-Wardrobe, "Feline" sandals, $64.50 at ASOS, Fedora, $11 at Wet Seal

StyleBistro: Great! So out of your must-haves, what is something you could wear when it's boiling hot outside when you still want to look remotely stylish?

George Kotsiopoulos: Definetly the ethereal dress to keep cool. A little bit sheer is okay, but leave a little something to the imagination.

StyleBistro: And finally, out of your top summer picks, is there anything that could easily transition into fall? You know, for the budget-conscious girl?

George Kotsiopoulos: The black and white bag is pretty timeless and seasonless. Since "punk" is a big trend for Fall, a cool choker could also come in handy this autumn.

And there you have it! Will you incorproate any of George's summer musts into your closet this season? Sound off in the comments below!
