Exclusive Interview: Chrissy Teigen, StyleBistro Celebrity Guest Editor
In case you haven't heard, Chrissy Teigen is not the quiet model type. Known for her exotic good looks, wickedly honest tweets, ultra-popular food blog and hot Hollywood romance with singer John Legend, this Sports Illustrated model has it all going on. Did we mention she's also modeled for Victoria's Secret, Rock & Republic and Maxim?
Having recently debuted her first line of bikinis during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Chrissy has now experienced both sides of the industry firsthand. We recently had the pleasure of catching up with the uproarious model and designer who gave us the scoop on everything from her fearless tweets to the beauty products on friend and fellow model Brooklyn Decker's bathroom shelf (Cetaphil!).
SB: What's your go-to beauty product?
When I find a favorite, I talk so much about it that people think I'm getting paid I think, which I hate because I just find something that I'm in love with and want to share it. That kind of happened with Dior Airflash Foundation. [I'm] so scared they're going to discontinue it that I just ordered six on Sephora.com!
SB: What's your take on high-resolution photos?
I hate it when those show up now! Three years ago you weren't clicking on photos and seeing one that was literally the size of your face. I'm so terrified that actually I just went and got my nails done and the woman goes, 'Oh mustache wax?' And I go, 'I don't know, should I?' When you click on those photos you can see every single hair on someone's face! I don't even think I have a mustache but I think I'm going to get mustache waxes all the time now.
SB: How do you prep for a bikini shoot?
It would be nice to say that I have three months before this shoot, I'm just going to be normal and maybe workout 3 or 4 days a week, but no, I don't ever do that. It just always comes down to buckle down time...but that's the way I prefer it. I'd rather have so much fun and enjoy my life, drink and eat and be merry and go out with friends and then buckle down and do it.
What surprised you most about designing your own line?
It's actually exhausting to see the other side of something. I think I've made fun of people like, 'Why do they cry?' Or like, 'Why are they happy after a runway show?' And then you just realize it's so much work and so exhausting and that once it's done you're just so relieved, so that's where the tears can come from.
What's currently playing on your iPod?
If you saw my iPod, it's just embarrassing, I would never show it off to people. The last song I bought was Beyonce's and I absolutely love her as a human being and as an artist in general. [I'll] make fun of Katy Perry for days, but I've spent a lot of money on her too.
