Ballet Rebellion: Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Fall 2011

Jean Paul Gaultier Fall Couture 2011 (Imax Tree)

Jean Paul Gaultier Fall '11
Jean Paul Gaultier is the king of rule-breaking and boundary pushing. Not often will you find a collection that encompasses both pinstripes and camouflage fur, but Gaultier manages to do so for Fall 2011.

The pieces have only one inspiration uniting them: a nod to Black Swan and the ballet fascination of the moment—most notably in the women's footwear. Gaultier also makes ties to his past collections with spiked headwear, his signature burn-out stripes, a coned bustier and his famous gender-bending with androgynous suits and men in skirts.

One of Sasha Pivovarova's looks summed up the collection's theme of rebellion and
contradiction: a black motorcycle jacket worn over a frilly crinoline skirt paired with pink ballet flats and a feather fascinator. Unabashedly Jean Paul Gaultier.
