When Savannah Guthrie was named co-host of NBC's top-ranking morning show, Today, we're guessing she didn't expect her footwear to be an issue.

According to a report in Page Six, Guthrie—who stands 5'10" in her bare feet—has been asked to wear lower shoes. Why? Because of Matt Lauer!

"Guthrie's height has become an issue," a source told the gossip column, who says that Guthrie's been asked to wear lower heels and—get this—"lower her anchor chair" to compensate for Lauer's lesser height.

"Once I put those high heels on, I'm getting over six feet tall," Guthrie said earlier this year. "I always go barefoot [at the news desk] because I was told one of the first times I filled in that I'm too tall for the set."

NBC denies the reports, saying "It's not exactly a state secret that Savannah's taller than her co-hosts in heels, but NBC doesn't dictate the height of her heels or her chair."

What do you think about the rumor? Do you care if a woman anchor is taller than a male anchor? Do you think Guthrie should have to make herself look shorter? Sound off in the comments!
