The book-length essay, adapted from Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 2012 TEDx talk of the same name, aims to define gender equality for the 21st century.

This feminist manifesto is a call-to-arms in every way, and more than deserving of its place on the New York Times bestseller list. Adichie's original impassioned talk was also sampled by none other than Beyoncé in her single Flawless, although the writer later pointed out that "her feminism isn't Beyoncé's feminism."
