The 5:2 diet is a type of intermittent fasting diet that consists of normal eating for five days of the week, and restricting calories the other two. On the restriction days you only eat around 500-600 calories, or relatively a quarter of your normal daily caloric intake. This diet is believed to reduce insulin levels and lower fat mass, among other things.
