The Atkins diet is primarily a weight loss diet that focuses on reducing carbohydrate intake. This OG diet become wildly popular in the early 2000s, and has dwindled since then (though low-carb diets are still popular). The diet consists of four phrases with increased carb intake per phase. 

What you can eat: protein (meat, fish, eggs), fats (butter, cheese), and low-carb vegetables

What you can't eat: carbohydrates (grains, rice, pasta, etc), fruit, starchy vegetables, nuts and seeds (during the first two weeks)
