Kohl's tapped Malandrino to create an 80-piece collection, priced from $36 to $130, under the retailer's DesigNation guest designer program. And, not surprisingly, the Grenoble native's offerings are inspired by her favorite place in the world — Paris.
“Every woman in America has a French dream in her head, especially a Parisian one,” Malandrino told WWD. “I always go to Paris for a reason but this time I wanted to step back as a woman who wants to rediscover Paris with all knowledge to make it more of a secret adventure for them. I feel every city has a soul. New York is all about transformation. Paris is all about timeless propositions.”
This timelessness translates to striped cocoon cardigans, berry-hued separates, structured totes, and jacquard prints inspired by an iron gate outside Parc Monceau — Malandrino sketched the design on a place mat while sipping a cappuccino at Les Deux Magots. Is that not the most Parisian thing ever?
The lineup doesn't hit Kohl's stores until September, but in the meantime, check out Catherine Malandino's fall 2013 collection under her namesake label, in our gallery.
