THIS Is the Most Expensive Dress Ever Sold on Net-a-Porter, John Galliano Skips the Met Ball, and More!

BEHOLD. The most expensive item ever sold on Net-a-Porter — a $50,000 red Dolce and Gabbana cocktail dress. "If we have women in mind for a particular piece then we will go for it and with conviction too. This Dolce & Gabbana dress has been produced in limited quantities and we have bought half of the world's stock," says Ben Matthews, Net-a-Porter's buying manager. [The Guardian]

LVMH is restoring Jacques Demy's film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Or, Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. Parapluies, parapluies, parapluies — sorry, it's just so fun to say!) and it will be presented it in all its Technicolored glory at next month's Cannes Film Festival. [WWD]
