This Just-Discovered Pre-Viking Tunic Is So Jil Sander


Forget Phoebe Philo and Francisco Costa — pre-vikings were the OG minimalists. Last week, scientists discovered a lamb's wool tunic — made around the year 300 — sitting beside a thawing glacier in southern Norway. The chocolate hue, subtle diamond pattern, and slightly elongated shape remind us of another designer who prefers the pared-down look — Jil Sander! Check out this ensemble from her fall 2013 collection:

So Nordic warrior, right?

The pre-viking tunic's original owner was about 5'9, scientists say, which is practically model-esque.
