Fashion Trend Report: Gray
This season's hottest neutral is subtly chic.
Black has been our go-to neutral for...basically forever. However, this season its equally wearable cousin, gray, is poised to steal the style spotlight. While black can be harsh on milky complexions, gray is almost universally flattering. And as Fashion Week Fall 2014 proved, gray is the new must-wear neutral.
Designers including Raf Simons for Christian Dior, Alessandra Facchinetti for Tod's and Ralph Lauren wowed Fashion Week showgoers with sophisticated gray looks. From outerwear to suiting, dresses to separates, gray was present in all forms and tones on the runways.
Celebrities have been quick to transition to gray looks on the red carpet, likely recognizing the color's roots in classic style. It's a timeless shade that certainly won't result in any "what was she thinking" moments. We spotted gray clothing recently on Kate Middleton, Carolyn Murphy, Alysia Reiner and Vogue editor Lauren Santo Domingo.
This is just about the easiest trend ever to work into your wardrobe. Chances are you've got plenty of gray items already in your closet but here are a few fresh options from Revolve Clothing, Zara, & Other Stories and Forever 21.
