We’ve shuffled around in brogues, devoted ourselves to boyfriend jeans, and can’t get enough of spring’s cool, crisp oxford shirts. Now, bow ties are the latest menswear trend to infiltrate our wardrobes. And boy, are they beguiling.

To be clear: this isn't your boyfriend's bow tie. It's floppy, foppish, and yes, totally, utterly French. At Chanel's spring presentation, Karl Lagerfeld sent out ribbon-like styles that hinted at a grown-up Parisian schoolgirl (think Madeline, but chicer). Celebrities including Keira Knightley and Sophie Auster (below) have stepped out in looks from the collection. At Saint Laurent, where bow ties made runway appearances in both the spring and fall shows, the trend felt equal parts posh and rock-and-roll. No wonder Kate Upton and Ashley Benson both recently hit the red carpet in the label's oversize styles.

Fit to be tied? The look is actually surprisingly easy to pull off. Simply scoop up one of these easy-on-the-wallet styles from ASOS, and pair with a chic sleeveless blouse (and sharp jacket come fall). If you’re not quite ready to go full-blown dandy just yet, test the waters with a cheeky, trompe-l’oeil printed shirt. Shop our picks below.
