Step 1: Prep
"When creating this style, I put all of my work into the preparation of the style," says Moore. "We determined that we were going to do a low, loose ponytail with volume and texture at the roots." To get this look, Moore used a volumizing powder to prep Chung's straight hair—adding texture and volume.
Step 2: Distress
To get the tousled feel, Moore used a one-inch curling iron for soft waves. She set the curls in place and once they were cooled, moved on to the front pieces, which were left loose to frame the face. She then used a blowdryer to relax the front pieces for an effortless feel.

To get the Brigitte Bardot retro effect, the key remains in the volume. To accomplish this, Moore back combed the crown. Follow by loosely pinning some curled pieces back to give detail where desired. Finish by pulling everything back into a ponytail at the nape of the neck.

Step 4: Perfect It
Once the low pony is set, the last thing to do is top off the look. "Braid a piece to hide the elastic by wrapping it around [the ponytail]," says Moore. Fluff up the base and set with hairspray, and you have a soft, sophisticated, sexy look.
