Master a 'Do From NYFW in Five Minutes
Bring the catwalk to the sidewalk with this stylish twisted ponytail.
Our dreams of walking the runway might remain just that, but achieving model-worthy hair is possible. We spotted a super cool twisted ponytail created by Orlando Pita for TRESemmé at the Hervé Léger by Max Azria Fall 2015 runway show and we've been dying to figure out a quick hack to recreate the look.
To accomplish this feat, we turned to Edward Tricomi of the famed Warren Tricomi salon in New York City. He taught us a simple trick to recreate this stylish ponytail in five minutes flat. No joke.
Step 1) Prep hair by blow drying it straight. Spray with hairspray to create a smooth, almost-wet texture.
Step 2) Brush smooth, so there are no flyaways. Create a side part.
Step 3) Make a simple hair roll starting at the left temple and folding down to the nape of the neck. Smooth hair as you go and keep the roll tight.
Step 4) Place several bobby pins along the roll to hold it in place.
Step 5) Repeat step three and four on the right side. The two rolls should meet at the nape of the neck and form a tail. To create the ponytail part of the look, take one section of hair and wrap around the ends of the hair.
Step 6) Pin the piece of hair that holds the rolls in place, and you're done.
