1 Trend, 2 Ways: Wrapped Ponytails at the 'Mad Men' Premiere

Saddle up, ladies! The twisted ponytail is trotting strong on the red carpet this spring, which, let's face it, is great news for those us helpless with a hairdryer. (Guilty.)

We spotted two ultra-chic (and very different!) takes on the trend last night at the Mad Men Season 6 premiere — a wispy high pony on Kiernan Shipka (the adorable Sally Draper!) and a sleek, middle-parted low pony on Shipka's on-screen step-mom, Jessica Pare (a.k.a. Megan Draper).

Let's examine their looks, shall we?

Shipka pulled her highlighted dirty blonde locks straight back and secured the base of her ponytail at the crown. Flyaway strands gave the look an effortless, beachy feel, while gemstone studs complemented the heighth of her hair. (Styling tip: Dramatic dangle earrings and high ponytails compete for attention, so try to stick with one or the other!)

Pare, on the other hand, slicked her locks back into a low, smooth wrapped ponytail — the perfect pairing to her statement-making teardrop earrings. In the front, her sharp center part draws the eyes forward, putting emphasis on her eye-popping smoky shadow.

And there you have it! One hair trend, done two completely different ways. Tell us, which look do you love more? Weigh in with your thoughts in our poll, below!
