Still in need of a Halloween costume for tonight—or do you just absolutely adore Jennifer Lawrence? Well, today's Braid of the Day (and your easy-to-whip-up costume inspo) is brought to you by Katniss Everdeen, straight from the trenches of The Hunger Games!

To get rugged side braid like Katniss, follow these steps:

Step 1: Spritz slightly damp strands with a sea-salt spray for that slightly-grungy I've-been-kicking-butt-all-day style Katniss always has going on. We love Charlotte Ronson's A Perfect Mess Beach Hair ($20 at

Step 2: Create a deep side part at the right of your head. Section your hair into three parts, starting at the top left, and begin French braiding. (Hint: Create a curve down the back by pulling the right strands tighter than the left!)

Step 3: Once the braid hits near your right ear, carefully begin to pull sections from the front of your hair in. Lace them underneath (instead of on top) for a more cohesive and fluid appearance.

Step 4: Once you've finished braiding (and tied off with an elastic) wiggle your fingers through random sections to give your hair a more dishelved texture. Spritz with hairspray—and ta-da!—your Katniss braid is complete.

Once you've mastered the 'do, creating a Katniss costumes is a cinch. Round up a plain black V-neck, baggy pants (cargos work best!), and a pair of clunky black combat boots. Bonus points if you can get your hands on a bow and arrow!
