Hair Trend to Try: Milkmaid Braids(Source: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images Europe) The milkmaid braid really isn't anything new in the hair world. We've seen it pop up on a red carpet here and there. Each time we'd be lying if we said images of Heidi running around the mountains didn't come to mind. But lately we've seen the Old World braid surface with much more frequency. Although some celebs opt for the more traditional take on the weaved updo, some are taking it to the next level with a twist or update. We've rounded up some of the most recent fans of the look and broke down how they made the trend their own.

Harley Viera-Newton might have opted for a simple and classic version, but by placing her braid farther back on her head and leaving wispy strands free around her face, the DJ created a more playful, romantic look.

Her combination of tightly woven, different-sized braids and knots made this look edgy and mod.
