Giuliana Rancic Talks Life After Breast Cancer, Feeling Pretty, and Possible Baby No. 2
(Craig Barritt/Getty Images North America) It's been almost two years since Giuliana Rancic under went a double lumpectomy and double mastectomy after learning she was in the early stages of breast cancer.
The E! News and Fashion Police star had a clean diet, worked out five times a week, and had no family history of the disease. In fact, Rancic wouldn't even have known she had cancer had she not gotten a mammogram per her doctor's request while undergoing her third round of in vitro fertilization treatment. Now, almost two years out, Rancic is cancer free and loving life with her husband, Bill Rancic, and son, Duke.

"It was so hard," she said of first learning she had cancer. "I can’t even tell you how hard that time of my life was."
Since Rancic's diagnosis, she has been incredibly vocal about her experience. But the decision to take her story public was not an easy one. In fact, it was actually her husband, Apprentice winner Bill Rancic, who encouraged her to use her celebrity to speak out and raise awareness.

So Rancic went public with her diagnosis and does not, for a second, regret her decision. "One of the things I always say is: when you work in Hollywood and can reach so many people, to not use that platform to help others is very selfish," she said. "Personally, it was the best decision I ever made to go public, because I see the effects of it." She even told us a number of women have stopped her on the street and said they've gotten mammograms (which have saved their lives) because of her candidness.
But how did Rancic remain positive during treatments and stay the "G" we all know from TV? It was difficult, she said, recalling a specific picture she took shortly after her mastectomy—"I was wearing my fedora, my favorite jacket, and my cool boots," she said. "I just felt cool again. I felt like I was me again." It was the little things that made her feel like her pre-cancer self, Rancic said. Putting on a pair of heels or just getting pampered with a massage from her hubby made a small but important difference, according to the TV personality.

She said she's cut back on her intense workout regiment and militant diet to focus more on spending time with her family. "I still live a healthy lifestyle. I still take care of myself, but I realize now, life is short, and life is precious," she said. "I've got to be with my husband instead, or my baby, because there’s nothing scarier than thinking you’re going to lose them."
As for baby number two, Rancic wouldn't reveal any specific details, but apparently she and Bill are ready to give Duke a little sister or brother. "We asked our surrogate who carried our first one, so we’re seeing what happens!" she said with a smile.
