This Dermatology App is Your Skincare Fairy Godmother
Spruce comes to the rescue with doctors at the ready to treat breakouts and more.
Once upon a time there was a girl with a history of acne and a bad habit of snacking on too many zit-promoting sweets. She woke up one day with the worst breakout of her life—so bad she didn't even want to step out of the house—after trying an ineffective spot treatment. With barely any time in the week to see a dermatologist in person, she thought she was doomed. While she wished in vain for a fairy godmother to appear and work magic on her face, she came across the next best thing in her app store—Spruce.
Spruce connects patients directly with dermatologists for quick, effective virtual appointments. It was around midnight when I decided to give this app a try—a time that would never work in a practice. After answering some background info, I snapped photos of my problem areas and went to bed. By the time I was at work the next day, I had a prescription sent directly to my local pharmacy. I started my regimen right away.
It's been three weeks and I am overjoyed at my results. My dermatologist Dr. Gordon-Spratt took my worries into consideration, such as looking for a low maintenance routine unlike the complicated ones doctors have prescribed me before. Nothing beats how accessible the care team is—whenever I had a question, for example whether or not I should lay off other skincare products outside my regimen, I could rely on getting an answer within 24 hours.
