Vanity confession: I'm pretty sure I permanently hurt my neck from jutting my head forward trying to sleep with my face half off the pillow because I was convinced mine was causing me acne and future wrinkles. Alternatively, I would often lie in bed on my back for (what felt like) hours waiting to fall asleep—can't. do. it. need. fetal. position.
Well, turns out there was some sanity mixed in with all my crazy. According to the HuffPo, WebMD (my current doctor), and even the American Academy of Dermatology, the way you sleep can hurt your complexion and cause "sleep lines" that "don't disappear once you're up." Dun dun dun. Apparently we can't even sleep right, ladies.
The good news? One morning after waking up from another night of smashing my face into memory foam, I saw an email in my inbox titled "Wrinkle-Prevention Pillow." Obviously, I had to get my hands, err head, on it. How does it work? There are moon cutouts on each side for us side-sleepers and a dip in the middle to help aid back-sleepers. And, of course, the casing is a soft non-tugging satin.
Here's a little video on it:
I've been using it every night for a week now, and while only time can attest to its wrinkle-prevention power, it's a comfortable way to keep most of your face off the pillow. Which is exactly what I wanted since my skin stays clean (no hair oils) and free of sheet lines. I'm pretty certain over time my face—and neck—will thank me.
