As someone who recently lost an ex unexpectedly, I know a bit about regret. The end of our relationship didn't fizzle out, but was a massive fire of betrayal, lies, and ultimately the meanest words that I have ever said or have been told. It was awful.

Whether it was fate, divine intervention, or the simple fact that we were just sick of fighting, we managed to reconcile just a few months before he passed away. While I'm still devastated about the loss and always will be, I know now that, no matter how messy the end of a relationship is, it's best to take the high road so you don't have regrets. No one wants to live with regrets, especially since, if you try hard enough, you can avoid them.
