Iman always manages to shine on the red carpet. Whether she's channeling full glamor in a dramatic evening gown or showing off her polished style in classic denim, Iman always manages to look picture perfect. As one of the world's most celebrated supermodels, Iman is often seen draped in the most luxurious brands. But lucky for us mere mortals, Iman wanted her fans to have equal access to style and believes that "no matter where you grow up and where you live today, the love for fashion is universal."
As a universal style icon, Iman was repeatedly asked to create collections for shows. But she always refrained—familiar with the other side of fashion, Iman was aware of the intricacies and difficulties with designing clothes. But the Global Chic line sparked Iman's interest because it's "not required to be some kind of cohesive collection." Iman tells StyleBistro that she closely examined her closet and thought to herself, "I am a Mom, I have my own company, I am a wife, I have multiple roles like a lot of women out there."

Iman's first design for the Global Chic line was a kaftan because the model maven has "never met a kaftan [she] didn't love." Iman has hundreds of kaftans in her personal closet, ranging from authentic designs from the streets of Egypt to couture pieces by Oscar de la Renta, Roberto Cavalli to Yves Saint Laurent. Iman deems the kaftan as a summer must-have, as it's an "invitation to lounge around." So Iman set out to create a line of vibrant and luxe kaftans, with "amazing colors and embroidery...a combination of purples with fuchsias, cobalt blue embroidery on a giraffe or leopard print" and HSN customers were simply ecstatic about the culturally-diverse collection!
The Global Chic line also extends to accessories. Iman's personal style tends to gravitate towards statement accessories like bags, shoes and jewelry, which she describes as the "stars of [her] closet." Iman explains that the perfect stylish acessory can update one's look without having to purchase a whole new wardrobe. She explains, "I can have a great jean and a great jacket but change it constantly with shoes and bags and it becomes something else."
Global Chic ad campaign Iman's self-described classical style was the driving force behind her collection. Iman says, "I want to design things that are classic regardless of what age she is—I want to dress mom and daughter." Iman, ever-aware of the HSN customer, realizes that the average woman is not a red carpet denizen. So she designed a line of "essential pieces" that were reinvented ideas of classic styles. From color-blocked capes to gold cuffs to stylish riding boots, the pieces are all plays on wardrobe staples with a distinct Iman aesthetic. And to top it all off, everything in the Global Chic line is under $100!
