14. First Woman to Become a Lawyer in the US, 1869
Arabella Mansfield was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1869, the first woman in the country to become a lawyer. Iowa was also the first state to accept women and minorities into it's bar. Mansfield spent most of her career as an educator and activist, however.
