Gaylyn Henderson was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was 14, and she eventually had a total proctocolectomy to remove her diseased colon (which is why she's "Gutless.") Because of that, she has a permanent ileostomy. She uses her platform to provide education and to help fight stigmas against chronic illnesses, and hopes to inspire others to embrace their bodies and not to be embarrassed of their medical aids.

One of her captions: "My body tried to kill me. Yet I survived. But it left behind a constant reminder that I must look at daily. I know what it’s like to see your reflection in the mirror and feel unattractive.  I used to be disgusted at the very thing that restored my health. But then I realized, that anything that has the power to save a life can be nothing but beautiful."
