After Meeting Online, Getting Together IRL Is Dangerous
The myth: You don't really know the people you come across on apps; meeting someone IRL could be dangerous.

The myth debunked: Yes, there is the off chance that the person you meet IRL could be dangerous. But your Uber driver could be, too. I guess that doesn't help matters, does it? And no, I'm not speaking lightly of the risks involved — it's just that simply existing as a woman in today's world is dangerous. Am I going to stop living my life? No.

Editor's note: If you feel unsafe, leave as quickly as you can. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot safely do so, you can use an app like Noonlight, where, if you feel threatened, you can simply hold down the button on your phone to alert first responders of your location. If it's a false alarm, you can enter a four-digit PIN code to cancel.
