Runway Nails DIY: 3 Different Manicure Ideas From Nicole Miller's Show
(Lindsay Schallon/StyleBistro) The Butter London team created three separate nail looks for the Nicole Miller runway show.
While Nicole Miller's fall 2013 runway designs may have been borrowed from the boys — think tailored pantsuits, structured jackets, and JT-esque fedoras — the three separate manicures created for the show sure were not. (Anyone else picturing grimy guy nails right now? Ick, yeah, none of that!)
"The whole collection is very tomboy, it's about girls who dress like boys," said manicurist Katie Hughes, who is Butter London's global color ambassador. "There are a lot of autumnal colors but with a lot of bright pops going through that. We wanted to do three different nail looks to complement the slight different feels throughout the collection."
For the first look, Hughes choose "Stag Do," a slate blue creme with a slight green shimmer. "This is for that slight tomboy effect," she said. "It's goes well with the more tomboy outfits."

For the second look, she used "Royal Navy" as a base and layered it with "Wallis," a metallic olive gold. "The olive goes with more of an evening-y type wear," Hughes said.
As for the third and final look, Hughes painted on two coats of "Royal Navy," and, to give the look an element of embellishment, she added a geometric triangle on the middle finger.
"This was for the outfits that were a bit more rock 'n' roll, that have that cool London feel about them," she said. "[The triangle's] made to look like a stud, but it's just drawn on with a little eyeliner brush."
The yet-to-be-named chrome shade Hughes used for the design was custom-made for Nicole Miller's show and will be available this summer!
