Lorelai And Rory Gilmore, Gilmore Girls
I know, this is a controversial one, but the mom-and-daughter-duo's friendship solely rested on codependency, which could be toxic. Codependent people feel the need to control those around them, and allow other people's decisions to affect them greatly. Because of this, they become emotional caretakers, which can lead to low self-esteem and a kind of neediness or clinginess.

Sound familiar? Lorelai constantly tries to micro-manage those around her, just as her own mother did. For example, when Rory wanted to take a break from Yale and her mom didn't agree, Lorelai decided the only way to respond to that was to cut her daughter off for months. It wasn't healthy.
