What to Wear: Book Club, Bridget Jones Edition

Full disclosure: We will not be pre-ordering Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in advance of its October 15th release. Why? Because we are about as okay with the fact that author Helen Fielding has killed off Mark Darcy as we are about the philosophy behind Smucker's' Goober (that is not the way a PB&J sandwich works people, okay?).

That said, we recognize that those of you with less ardent ties to the fictional British lawyer with a high-tolerance for female hysteria and emotional binge drinking—and, it must be said, the actor who plays Mr. Darcy in the films, Colin Firth—may be taking a more understanding and open-minded (and "come on, it's not real") attitude, in which case, you will be reading the latest installment of the avidly followed chic lit series right away.

And so, we'd like to advise on your wardrobe for what will surely be the literature-light meeting of the season. You'll be wearing a somber-yet-flirty black number, of course (as modeled above at Miu Miu's F/W 13 Paris Fashion Week show by Ms. Zelwegger, who plays Fielding's heroine in the films). And as a sign of your heartfelt condolences, you'll be kicking the formality up a notch from your usual jeans and t-shirt gear. We think the below lacy number from ASOS shows due respect for Mr. Darcy's passing, and also offers plenty of breathing room, should you indulge in one too many brownies or glasses of red wine while cheering Jones' endearingly awkward hi-jinks.
