Rebecca Minkoff can trace the impressive trajectory of her fashion label back to a seminal product: The Morning After bag. Big enough for all the essentials but small enough for a night out, the bag quickly found favor with stylish celebrities like Blake Lively, Ashley Greene and Keira Knightley, among others.

Minkoff credits the success of the Morning After with giving her the freedom to launch an apparel extension for Spring 2009. "I love bags, I love designing bags, [but] I love the challenge that clothing brings," Minkoff told us.

"Anyone can wear a bag. It doesn’t matter what shape it is. I think with apparel you’re dealing with how do you find that average that fits all kinds of body types and shapes. The style of a bag can be more classic and you can wear a bag for a whole season, but how do you make apparel that you want to wear again and again but that also goes with trends. I like challenges."

Minkoff's latest venture? Ben Minkoff, a range of men's accessories inspired by her WWII veteran grandfather, after whom the collection is named. She's also got her Spring 2011 apparel plans mapped out: "I know that I’m feeling more like just long, flowy, clean, not too complicated, just beautiful fabrics, beautiful make, but more simple."
