H&M to Launch Capsule Collection Inspired by 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'

Trish Summerville with H&M models. From gracing the November cover of Vogue to inspiring a diffusion line with retail powerhouse H&M, Rooney Mara is proving to have quite a busy month! H&M has teamed up with Trish Summerville, costume designer of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to produce a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by the style aesthetic of Lisbeth Salander, the film's troubled protagonist. The 30-piece collection by Summerville is part of H&M Divided line, aimed at a younger clientele.

This may be Summerville's first foray into a full fashion design line, but she's no stranger to fantastical fashions, having worked with stars from Adam Lambert to Pink to Christina Aguilera. Summerville drew inspiration for the collection directly from Rooney's dark film wardrobe. "We put a lot of aged-in washes and finishes, which goes along the lines of the Salander character. In the film, her clothes are quite extreme. They’re really worn down, they’re dirty,” Summerville said in an exclusive interview to WWD. “So for us, it was taking that kind of concept and giving it more of a realistic fashion feel.”

Items in the collection range from $3.95 for tribal-style earrings to $199 for a leather jacket. The collection is set to launch on Dec. 14 in H&M stores worldwide, in coalition with the Dec. 21 release of the feature film.
