5. Bloomers
Bloomers were actually insanely revolutionary for the time they came out - women started wearing them as they got more into sports and riding bicycles, claiming that they couldn't possibly be expected to pedal while wearing heavy, ground-dragging skirts. But many people saw this foray into pants as the beginning of the end: Let a woman wear pants and next she'll be demanding the vote and men will be the ones staying at home with the kids!

While bloomers were an important part of feminist history, what's funny about them is that they weren't actually true pants. They had a Turkish style silhouette where they would bloom down the leg and taper at the ankles, but a small dress was layered on top so as not to make it too shocking. And yet, it still riled up and pissed off a good many men!
