9. Limp Inducing Shoes
Throughout history there has been a trend of copying the Queen or princess in power - she was seen as the most beautiful and fashionable female of the land, so it made sense. But that went to interesting new heights when Alexandra of Denmark, the wife of king Edward VII and the style star of the time, was left with a pronounced limp after a complication with childbirth. To the shock of many, noblewomen and peasants alike began to adopt a limp in their own step, and even went as far as to request uneven shoes from the cobbler to help them achieve a more authentic hobble.
