20. Paper Dresses
There was a fad in the 1960s for three full years where paper clothes were a thing! With the rise of consumerism, the post-war boom, and the futuristic vibes of the Space Age, people loved the modern idea of wearing paper clothes they could throw out rather than wash. Boutiques were springing up all over Manhattan and the US that sold shifts, minis, and even fur coats made out of this waterproof paper. Magazines started speculating that we'd never wear cotton clothes again, and galas and balls even went paper themed, where Jackie Kennedy even tried the trend!
