17. Challenge her to experience a breadth of experiences
I'll never forget how I was expected as a child to play basketball with my family on Sundays. On the one hand, it wasn't my favorite activity. On the other, it pushed me to develop strength and resilience through doing something I wouldn't normally pick for myself. 

While choice is important, it's also good for girls to try things outside their comfort zones. Encourage your girls to dabble in a wide variety of activities because you never know which ones might stick. If you want her to believe she can do anything, it helps for her to occasionally be guided in new directions.
