We've heard of in-store experiences that let customers build their own custom sneakers and custom jeans. Now, BLK DNM is taking customization to the next level with the launch of an in-store station that allows its customers to design and create their own leather jackets.
Opening this month at BLK DNM's New York City flagship (237 Lafayette St., 212-966-6258), the custom leather jacket experience will offer "a rotating selection of fine European leathers in various colors, textures and finishes, as well as a range of shearlings, long and short, straight and curly, muted and fluorescent."
Here's a sampling of some of options that will be on offer:
- Emerald green, high-gloss sheepskin (who even knew this existed!)
- Reflective, green-foiled lambskin with cracked effect (ditto!)
- Navy, short-hair sheepskin with an electric-blue, croc-embossed backside (!!)
- Smooth cobalt-blue cow skin
- Goat-hair shearling in midnight blue
- Silver-foiled lambskin
"There's something really special to having a custom-made leather jacket," BLK DNM founder Johan Lindeberg says. "People tend to collect certain pieces in their wardrobe that just stick with them over the years, the pieces that really come to represent a part of who they are. I think for many, like me, a leather jacket is one of those core pieces. And to have your own unique leather jacket—stitched together locally, for you, in the textures, colors, and combinations you choose by hand—is a beautiful experience."
