When it comes to food, it’s good advice to buy what’s in season and on sale. You can do without strawberries for a few months if it means you’re saving a few dollars compared with peak season. Buying produce based on what’s most available and on sale will help stretch your budget.

Additionally, frozen vegetables are great for many recipes and often less expensive than their fresh counterparts because they’ve already been trimmed down to what you’re going to use.
