5. Buy kids clothes a little big
When you're buying new clothes for your kids, buy a size up so they'll be able to wear the items longer. While this may mean their clothes are a bit loose in the beginning, it will extend the life of the clothing before you have to shop again.

Likewise, if you're digging through hand-me-downs for younger siblings, organize by season instead of size to make sure you don't miss out on clothes just because the months didn't match the seasons. Often a size or two too big will do the trick without anyone even noticing.
