StyleBistro Awards 2013: Cast Your Vote for the Best New Color Cosmetic Product
And we're back! Welcome to day eight of the second-annual StyleBistro Awards. This next category is going to require some serious input from all you beauty junkies out there: Best New Color Cosmetic Product!
It wasn't easy narrowing down our contenders, but we finally colored, penciled, slathered, and swept our way to these six finalists. Get a mini rundown of why we're obsessed with each, and cast a vote for your top pick in the poll, below.
Don't forget to return each day for more StyleBistro Awards categories! The winners will be announced on August 26th.
L'Oreal Colour Riche Eyeliner in "Cobalt" ($8.95 at lorealparisusa.com): No, your DeLorean did not just transport you back to the '80s, blue eyeliner came back with a boom in 2013. While we spotted plenty of teals and icy blues in celeb-land, down here on earth, we crushed hard on this surprisingly wearable cobalt color. The pencil also features a smudgy brush at the end—a super-selling point for those of us with less-than-precise eyeliner skills. (Especially before our morning coffees.)
Revlon Lash Potion by Grow Luscious Volume + Length Mascara ($7.99 at ulta.com): When it came to mascara, we saw it all this year: curlicue brushes, convertible wands, sparkle-infused formulas, the works. But it was the no-frills application—and okay, the ridiculously cute packaging—of this Revlon new-release that really caught our eye. Two swipes transformed our wimpy baby lashes into full-on flirty fringe.
Maybelline Color Whisper by Color Sensational in "Orange Attitude" ($5.94 at target.com): Maybe it's a lipstick? Maybe it's a gloss? Maybe it's... both? Taking its best-selling Baby Lips tinted lip balms one step further, Maybelline's Color Whisper features a revolutionary gel-based formula that deposits color like a lipstick, but moisturizes like a balm. Plus, the sheer application means no lip liners necessary! (We're all for minimizing our routine, you?)
RiRi Hearts MAC Lipstick in "RiRi Woo" ($15 at maccosmetics.com): When this retro matte red hue first went up for grabs, we were fairly certain Rihanna was going to break the Internet. MAC sold out of its entire pre-sale stash in three hours, causing a Twitter freakout of massive proportions. The hour-long check out times were well worth it, though—we've yet to find a lady this creamy ruby color doesn't flatter.
Smashbox Fade to Black Eye Shadow Palette in "Fade Out" ($42 at smashbox.com): Ranging in hue from matte ivory and soft champagne to deep plum and shimmery (but-not-too-sparkly) midnight, this sleek palette packs everything you need, lid-wise, to get you from day to night. Just pop it in your purse, and you're covered.
It Cosmetics YBBB Universal Brow Power Skinny Pencil ($24 at qvc.com): A universal brow pencil you ask? How could that possibly work for everyone? Well, indie-fave It Cosmetics commissioned a team of scientists to create a pencil with truly buildable and blendable coverage. Itty-bitty feather strokes will faintly darken up light brows; push harder, and the formula deposits a deeper, richer taupe-to-cocoa pigment. Slick every last hair in place with the spooly and ta-da! You're on your way to Cara brows.
