'The Client List' Season 2, Episode 13 Recap - 'Whatever it Takes'
(Lifetime) The Client List recap - season 2 episode 13
The penultimate episode of The Client List's second season promised a lot in last week's previews, so let's just jump right into it, shall we?
Kyle is home—and the kids are playing the parents: Kyle is back at home and this episode opens with him moving his stuff back in. You'll be glad to know, Joan Crawford, that the Parks household exclusively uses wooden hangers. Travis, Kyle and Riley's son, wants to know whether he can have his entire football team for a sleepover after their big game tomorrow night—Riley says no, but Travis tricks Kyle into saying yes by telling him "Mommy told me to ask you." Wily kid.
Selena and Derek's blossoming relationship: Selena and Derek are a full-on couple now—even though Selena is having trouble adjusting to the idea. Derek is a sweetheart, though (just like all the good-guy characters on Lifetime), and even shows up to saddle up Selena's beloved horse, Henry, before she goes riding in the morning. She still only wants to hang out with Derek at night, though.
"I'm not a vampire and this isn't Twilight," Derek says. And he convinces her to go see a movie with him.
Later at Harold's Derek is talking to a long-haired guy at a table—he's in town for a funeral. Marcus, a guy from their squad in the army, killed himself last week. He was a good friend of Derek's.
Lacey and Dale consider their options: After Lacey's miscarriage a few episodes back, and their difficulty getting pregnant, the couple have decided to adopt—and are preparing for the social worker's home visit. In the meantime, they've volunteered to help Kyle out with Travis' football team's sleepover.
Meanwhile at The Rub: Wow, there are so many new people who work at the spa! Literally, they just showed up this episode out of nowhere! There are least, like, 10 of them! Anyhoo.
Riley tells her entire staff that they'll be volunteering at Harold's charity golf tournament the next day. Selena grumbles because she'll be losing out on tips. And Georgia isn't happy because she'd like The Rub to keep a lower profile. Riley hints that now that Kyle is back, she's thinking about either taking The Rub legit or getting out entirely.
Evan is somehow both interesting and boring: Nothing really new has been happening with Evan since Riley told him in no uncertain terms that their short-lived romance was dunzo—last episode he got back together with Shelby. In this episode, following their massage parlor bust last time, both Evan and his douchebag partner Tremble are awarded with Texas Ranger badges. They also get assigned to work security at the golf tournament.
Fetish massage of the week: This week's creepy massage client request? A man who has the coloring of a serial killer (you know, sort of washed out monochrome hair/skin/eyes?) asks for a six-hand massage—two masseurs in addition to Riley.
"The other two can just watch," he says, "or join in, whatever works for you."
Is The Rub about to get busted? Judge Overton—The Rub client who likes to be massaged with Louboutins—shows up at the spa and advises Riley to avoid taking on new clients for "a while." While he won't tell her what, specifically is going on, he tells her to be careful. The next day, she runs into him at the golf tournament, where it's revealed that Evan has been assigned to this special undercover task for to tackle organized crime, drugs, prostitution, and trafficking. The judge assures Riley that he'll know every move the task force makes and promises to always look out for her.
While the gang is at Harold's, Riley gets a call from the alarm company saying that the alarm at The Rub has gone off. She asks them not to send for police and she and Derek go off to check out the situation for themselves. When they show up, it looks like Riley's office has been trashed, but they left the cash and jewelry.
But what about the client list? Last we saw of the little black book that's the client list, Nikki had gotten her hands on it after spying on where Riley buried it on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. We thought that Nikki had already handed it over to her bad-guy boyfriend Greg Carlisle, who owns the seedy rival massage parlors in the surrounding areas, but it looks like she hasn't handed it over yet—"You're still looking for the client list for me, right?" he asks her. Why is Nikki still holding onto it?
After the break-in at The Rub, Riley drives out to the ranch to dig up the client list. Obviously, it's not there anymore. And Riley freaks out.
Nikki shows up at Greg Carlisle's office to yell at him for breaking into The Rub. He throws her against the wall and yells at her. He slaps her, rips her necklace off, and throws her out. She begs him not to break up with her. Obviously, she has some issues.
